Black Sheep is a 100% skater-owned and operated shop located in Charlotte, North Carolina. The store features the area’s largest selection of skate hardgoods and premium footwear. Black Sheep also carries a full selection of men’s and women’s apparel and accessories.

The name Black Sheep represents someone that is free-thinking, does his or her own thing, and stands out in the crowd. We chose the name because we wanted to celebrate the individuality, independent spirit, and creativity that skateboarding encompasses. The shop has adopted the North Carolina state motto “Esse Quam Videri” which is a Latin phrase meaning “To be rather than to seem.”

Our mission is to support and foster all of the diverse and creative elements that skateboarding encompasses, including art, fashion, and music. Black Sheep strives to build a positive local scene and to give something back to the skateboard community. Located in Charlotte’s Historic South End neighborhood, the shop features works from local artists and hosts art shows and other events.
