Huf

HUF first opened its doors in August 2002, with the aim to bring the best brands footwear, streetwear and skateboarding had to offer under one roof. Even owner Keith Hufnagel didn’t have the foresight to imagine how well-received his vision would be. HUF quickly grew to be known as a premiere purveyor of hard-to-come-by goods. Since its Bay Area debut, HUF has opened a new door each year. Each expansion has allowed an opportunity for Hufnagel to bring more of what the NYC native loves to his permanent home of San Francisco. A professional skateboarder since 1992, Keith has a unique view and ability to blend his inspiration from the cultures that surround him.

What started as a simple solution to Hufnagel’s frustration to find what he wanted to wear in San Francisco has grown into three shops, a clothing brand and, in 2008, will expand its doors to Los Angeles. However, Keith’s first love has always been and always will be skateboarding. He continues to tour the world on his board with his teams and his friends, which helps fuel and inspire his retail vision.

ARTWORK

“I make paintings that reflect my surroundings, often dilapidated facades, against spacey and optimistic skylines. A great number of ideas and visual concepts are picked up everyday while skating down the street.”
